Una river flows through Bihac, a rare pearl of pristine nature and cleanness. There is no other river in the entire Europe whose water is drinkable on its entire 80 km long flow. This river as an artery and life driving force manage to gather on its banks numerous settlements and towns whose destiny is linked to and determined by the unique common thread - Una river. Testifying of this are the remains of ancient settlements which were built by Illyrian tribes Lapydes two millenniums ago, and Romans gave the river name Una, the one - and the only.
Una is a cascade river almost in its entire longitudinal profile. Natural cascades, waterfalls, rapids and falls on the upper longitudinal profile of the river Una represent a unique natural heritage. In the very proximity of the source of Una is the first 10 m high cascade. At Martin Brod there is the Bukovi na Uni (Una Falls) which is the biggest waterfall on Una where on average 63 m3/s of water overflows the 54 m high travertine grid. Downriver from Martin Brod is the most attractive cascade - Strbacki buk. It is consisted of three 40 m wide and 23,5 m high travertine segments. To Bihac, there is also 1,5 m high Troslap, 2,5 m high Dvoslap and Kostelski's Falls downriver from Bihac, as well as the falls at Bosanska Krupa.
Our area is a region of Karst relief, rich in springs and wells, with numerous Karst caves and even richer flora and fauna, a very rare example of ecologically completely preserved biodiversity.
